Meet Our Staff

Co-Owners Dan & Joan Suk

Dan and Joan Suk have been long time firearms collectors and enthusiasts from the Hunterdon County area. Over the past four years they saw the need for an indoor facility where the public could meet and also practice marksmanship with firearms. Both share a background in business and engineering and are firm second amendment supporters. Dan and Joan are very proud of their facility and want to welcome all levels of shooting enthusiasts to visit the Tactical Training Center and see what it has to offer!

Scott Lessig, Director of Training

Scott Lessig is a law enforcement supervisor with nearly 30 years’ experience, serving the majority of his career with the Raritan Township Police Department and as a SWAT officer since 1987. He was a founding team member, team leader, instructor and coordinator for Hunterdon County SWAT, and a Team Member of Somerset County SWAT. Scott has held the positions of Entry Team Member and Leader, Explosives Handler/Breacher, and Scout/Sniper.

Scott holds certifications as a Firearms Instructor (Pistol, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle, Submachine Gun, and NRA Pistol), Live-fire Shoot-house Instructor, NJ-RTO Instructor, Chemical Agents Instructor, Collapsible Baton Instructor, Defensive Tactics and Counter-measures Instructor, Active Shooter Response Instructor, and Use of Force Instructor. He was the Primary Firearms Training Instructor for his department.

Scott was a factory certified armorer from Remington, Heckler and Koch, Smith & Wesson, Glock and Mossberg. He is an NRA Life-Member, a former High-Power Rifle Competitor, and an avid outdoorsman.

Scott holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Training and Education from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

Melissa Horner

Senior Associate/Membership and Event Coordinator

Melissa is the TTC’s Senior Associate and can often be found at the TTC front desk. Melissa brings to the TTC her customer service background, superior organizational skills, her quick smile and lots of enthusiasm. In addition to her Associate responsibilities, Melissa is the TTC Membership and Event Coordinator, where she ensures the prompt and appropriate response to all membership matters. Additionally, Melissa can be contacted to set up those special events or activities many customers seek; including teambuilding, bride or groom events, birthday or other special event celebrations and even the reservation of our facilities for meetings and trainings.

Melissa is an accomplished equestrian and enjoys competing with her thoroughbred “Glitter and Charm” in “The Jumpers” during her off time. Melissa is a graduate of the NRA Basic Handgun Course and enjoys shooting the Ruger 22/45 Lite and the Heckler and Koch VP9

Range Safety Officers/Training Staff

The TTC employs only the highest caliber of RSO’s (Range Safety Officers) to assure you have a safe and pleasurable experience. All our RSO’s are either current or retired Law Enforcement officers from Local, State or Federal agencies. They are all accomplished officers in their field, some having SWAT or Military background which offer an abundance of experience and knowledge to make your visit much more enjoyable.

​Brian R. Brennan 

Range Safety Officer/TTC Instructor

Brian is a retired law enforcement supervisor with nearly 30 years’ of service with the Roselle Police Department in Union County, New Jersey. Brian retired in April of 2020 with the rank of Captain. As a career Patrol Officer, Brian served 2 separate tours with the Roselle/Linden Joint Patrol Unit which is a crime suppression unit assigned to high crime areas in both towns. Brian was promoted to Sergeant and worked as a Patrol Supervisor, he was later promoted to Lieutenant and assumed the responsibilities of a Shift Commander. Upon his promotion to Captain, Brian took over the Administration Unit of the Roselle Police Department and was third in command of the police department.

A lifelong shooter, Brian became a Firearms Instructor in 2002. He was second in command of the department firearms unit from 2011 till 2014 and was assigned as the Lead Instructor and Rangemaster till his retirement in 2020. In these positions Brian was tasked with officer qualifications, requalification’s, Use of Force training as well as the tactical development of this agencies officers.

Brian is a New Jersey Police Training Commission certified Firearms Instructor in the disciplines of Handgun, Shotgun, Patrol Rifle and Submachine Gun. He also has attended and graduated from Advanced Handgun and Patrol Rifle training courses at the Sig Sauer Academy (NH), Instructor Development and Advanced Handgun and Rifle from the Union County Emergency Response Team (U.C.E.R.T), as well as being a certified Active Shooter, Firearms Training Simulator (FATS) and Simunition Force-On-Force Instructor. Brian holds additional firearms training certifications from the NRA including Basic Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer.

Finally, Brian has been a Licensed New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 1987, working for University Hospital EMS from 1990 to 1994. Brian is an American Heart Association certified CPR/AED Instructor.

Brian is an avid firearms enthusiast and a passionate instructor. He is also an avid ultra-light fisherman and can be found fishing from either his Ranger bass boat or his pedal kayak on waterways all over the state.

Jay Hunter

TTC Master Instructor

Jay retired in 2019 as a Detective Sergeant in the Town of Clinton (NJ) Police Department after a 26 year law enforcement career involving both patrol and investigative assignments.

Jay is a founding member of the Hunterdon County Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), a collateral duty assignment. Since its inception in 1997, Jay rose through the ranks and positions on the Team ultimately becoming the Team Operations Officer (TOO). In that capacity, Jay was the Tactical Commander of the Team and was responsible for all training and the safe, operational success of the Team. Jay implemented trainings in a way that combined tactical, medical, and negotiator elements in each training, allowing for greater team integration and coordinated efforts. In addition to SWAT duties, Jay developed and instituted training programs for local law enforcement, including pistol, patrol rifle, less lethal impact munitions, Conducted Energy Devices (CED) and officer safety.

Additionally, Jay retired as a Gunnery Sergeant (E-7) in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2011. He had been member of the US Marine Corps and US Marine Corps Reserve since 1989. A Combat Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom — Iraq three tours 2003, 2005 & 2008/2009, Operation Enduring Freedom — Horn of Africa 2002-2003, Operation Rapid Guardian — Kosovo 2002 and Operation Desert Shield/Storm- Kuwait/Saudi Arabia 1990-1991. Gunnery Sergeant Hunter’s personal awards include – Purple Heart Medal (x2), Navy Achievement Medal with “V’ Valor Device, Navy Achievement Medal (x2), Navy Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (x2), Secretary of the Navy Letter of Commendation, Letter of Appreciation (x6), Meritorious Mast (x2)

Jay holds NRA Instructor certifications in Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Patrol Rifle, Precision Rifle and Home Firearms Safety.

In addition to instructing at TTC, Jay is an Adjunct Instructor with Louisiana State University NCBRT Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education where he is a US Department of Homeland Security Instructor in Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response.

 

Jay is also very active in volunteering with Team Rubicon as a “Grey Shirt” and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5119, Glen Gardner, NJ where he serves as the Post Commander. 

Chris Jaeger

Range Safety Officer/ TTC Instructor

Chris has been an officer with the Montgomery Township Police Department since 1997. During his time with Montgomery, Chris served 8 years with the Somerset County Emergency Response SWAT Team, responding to incidents of barricaded subjects, hostage situations and performing high risk warrant service. He held positions on the inner perimeter team and building entry Team Bravo. Chris has also held positions in the police department as Detective, Field Training Officer, Community Policing Officer, Pepper Spray Instructor, Firearms Instructor and Defense Tactics Instructor.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Chris enlisted in the New Jersey Army National Guard in 1993. Chris continues to serve with the guard and currently holds the rank of First Sergeant (E-8). He currently is responsible for the supervision of 88 soldiers. Chris holds three Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) including Infantryman, Reconnaissance Scout and Combat Explosives Handler. Chris has deployments overseas as well as stateside. He served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he lead a nine man squad and directly planned and participated in over 70 sensitive liaisons missions and over 200 high profile missions. He also served as the head instructor for the Army’s Infantry School and Scout Reconnaissance Program and holds a Secret Clearance with the Department of Defense.

Chris holds certifications as an NRA instructor in Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun, Trident Concepts Combative Carbine & Combative Pistol, Diamondback Tactical Progressive Enforcement Options, National Tactical Officers Basic SWAT Course, Somerset County Police Academy Tactical Shotgun, Blackwater Training Center Extreme Officer Survival, Advanced Infantry Marksmanship, Federal Protective Services Emergency Medical Technician, International Training Personal Executive Protection Course and State of New Jersey Use of Force Training for the Retired Law Enforcement Officer.

Chris has trained in martial arts for over 20 years and holds a brown belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, he has fought in several amateur competitions including MMA. He volunteers his time working with soldiers who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Centenary College.
